About the EHSP

The EHSP is a multidisciplinary panel of experts established to support the development and deployment of inherently safer hydrogen systems and infrastructure throughout the European Union. Its mission is to assist the Clean Hydrogen Joint Undertaking (JU) at both programme and project levels in addressing hydrogen safety, and to promote a high-level safety knowledge and culture within and beyond JU-funded activities.

No. The EHSP is an independent, non-regulatory advisory body. Its function is to provide scientific expertise, guidance, and promote best practices in hydrogen safety; it does not have enforcement or compliance powers

Structure and Activities

The EHSP is composed of a pool of multidisciplinary experts, grouped into Task Forces (TFs) covering:

Each Task Force focuses on defined activities, covering all aspects of hydrogen safety within the Clean Hydrogen JU programme.

HIAD is a central tool for collecting, analyzing, and disseminating lessons learned from hydrogen-related incidents and accidents. Managed and updated by EHSP, HIAD 3.0 will be further developed in 2025, with public-facing reports and statistics released as part of the communication strategy

A new standalone EHSP website will be launched in 2025, providing access to guidance, databases (including HIAD), events, infographics, FAQs, and resources tailored for different audiences. Until then, materials are available through the Clean Hydrogen JU website
